The morning of day 3 is a crucial moment in the design sprint, as it’s the discovery of all the solution concepts. Each concept will be extensively discussed and compared with the other solutions.

By the end of the morning, the Decider will be able to choose which approach is most likely to succeed and what will be prototyped on day 4.

These few hours are intense and exciting. It’s truly the key moment of the design sprint where most strategic decisions will be made.

Differences of opinion or vision among participants at the outset are common. It’s often one of the reasons for organizing the sprint.

But during this morning, all ideas will be discussed and debated until the team finds alignment.

How is this possible?

  1. Methodology: Initially, we discover all the concepts anonymously, meaning we don’t know who authored a concept. Then, each idea is presented and discussed with a clear structure and equal time. The goal is to give each concept a chance, and all team members have the opportunity to express their vision in a qualitative way.
  2. The facilitator: Some contexts can be tense, and certain personalities may prove challenging. It’s in these cases where the facilitator’s experience makes all the difference. Knowing when to give voice to the right person, avoiding falling into a ‘rabbit hole,’ ensuring even the shyest members speak up… this requires mastery of group sociodynamics that can only be gained through years of experience.

An experienced facilitator (like the Design Sprint Ltd team) brings all their experience and a certain neutrality that can defuse even the most explosive situations.
