Besides the obvious aspects – working from different locations and using online tools – the rest of the sprint process is very similar to the classic, in-person Design Sprint. We do not modify the sprint process to guarantee the quality of the results, but the working hours can be reduced, especially if your team works across multiple time zones.
In terms of results and deliverables, a virtual sprint is quite comparable to an in-person design sprint.
However, the quality of the experience in general can be better for team members who experience the design sprint in person. The reason is very simple: all those little ‘off’ moments, like coffee breaks or having lunch together, allow for the creation of team cohesion that will be hard to replicate remotely.
